You don’t have a guarantor living in France?
Studapart can replace your guarantor for the entire duration of your stay.
A question ?
Send us an email at alexandre.ducoeur@studapart.com
A guarantor is a person who provides financial security and certifies that you are creditworthy. It's difficult to rent an apartment in France without a French guarantor. In most cases, student residences and landlords require your guarantor to earn an income in France.
You can get the Studapart Guarantee directly on the platform and add it to your rental application to find accommodation on the Studapart platform or anywhere else!
Alternatively, you can use Visale, the free deposit service for students. Watch the Campus France tutorials.
Landlords: You can place your ads directly on the platform by using the Landlord tab.
Real estate agencies, residences: Contact your dedicated Studapart consultant: alexandre.ducoeur@studapart.com
If you are renting a private room or apartment in France, you may be eligible for housing assistance. Please contact the Caisse d'Allocation Familiales (CAF) to determine your eligibility for Aide Personnalisée au Logement (APL), the national housing assistance program. See the CampusFrance website for more information on financial aid for housing.
Please note that in order to receive financial aid, you must provide CAF with the following information when you arrive in France
- Passport
- Housing contract
- French student card
- Birth certificate (translated in French)
- Social security card or number
- Three passport photos
- Valid student visa with OFII stamp

If you are a non-European student studying at Audencia, we recommend that you purchase international travel insurance, personal liability insurance and international health insurance valid for the duration of your stay in France.
If you are a European student, remember to bring your valid European Health Insurance Card!
Health insurance in France may be very different from what you have at home. Requirements and procedures vary depending on the length of your stay, your age, your country of origin and whether or not you are a full-time student. Visit the CampusFrance website for more information.
CVEC
Students enrolled in a French higher education institution are subject to a fee known as the CVEC (Contribution Vie Etudiante et de Campus).
The CVEC applies to French and foreign students enrolled in a program of study at a public or private higher education institution in France.
The CVEC is currently €103 per academic year and can be paid online. See the CampusFrance website for more information.
VISA
All non-European students studying in France for more than three months must apply for a student visa - and certain nationalities require visas even for short stays. Check the France Visa website as a start, then apply to the nearest French consulate or embassy no later than three months before your expected date of arrival.
The information below is a general overview of the visa process for studying as an exchange or degree student at Audencia. For more detailed information and guidelines, particularly regarding the regulations for your country of origin, please visit the CampusFrance website or the website of the French embassy or consulate in your country.
In general, if you plan to stay in France for more than three months, you will need to obtain a long-term student visa before you arrive. You should apply for your visa at the French embassy or consulate in your country of residence at least three months before your departure. Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay in France.
Also check if you'll need an entry visa.
If you are staying in France for less than three months, you may still need a visa, depending on your country of origin. Please check with your nearest French embassy or consulate for the correct visa requirements. You can also check the CampusFrance website below:
- Short-stay visas (less than 90 days)
- Countries exempt from short-stay visa requirement
Please note: A tourist visa cannot be converted to a student visa once you have entered France. Please apply for the appropriate student visa if you plan to study at Audencia for more than three months. Also check if you'll need an entry visa.
A Student Examination Visa allows you to enter France to take an entrance exam required as part of the application process for admission to a degree program. If you pass the entrance exam, you can apply directly (without returning to your home country) for a renewable one-year residence permit at the prefecture of Nantes.
In addition to your student visa, you may need an entry visa to enter France. Entry requirements and visa procedures vary depending on your home country. Please check with your local French embassy or consulate to see if your country is included.
Please note: Citizens of EU countries, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and San Marino do not require an entry visa.
If you decide to stay in France beyond
If you decide to stay in France beyond the time allowed by your student visa, you may be eligible to apply for a residence permit known as a titre de séjour.
This situation arises if:
The duration of your studies is longer than the duration of your student visa (more than one year).
You have found an internship or job in France after your student visa has expired.
See the CampusFrance website for more information.
You must go to the préfecture (government bureau) to apply for a residence permit within two months of the expiration date of your student visa:
