MEDEF LAUNCHES FAMILY SUCCESS

Le Medef lance le Family Success

On March 15, the Audencia Family Entrepreneurship and Society Chair team was invited by MEDEF Mayenne for the launch of the Family Success Chair in Laval.

This new concept brings together potential business buyers who wish to take over a family or patrimonial business. MEDEF will support them in their upstream reflection by relying on the sharing of experience and the expertise of each. The first class has about twenty future buyers (family or not).

When you take over a company with its past, its history, certain choices are essential at the time of transmission. How do you know what place to adopt in the company? Am I legitimate?" Éric Hunaut, President of MEDEF Mayenne

Family Succès will bring together the buyers five times a year, for two years in a benevolent setting. At each meeting, a guest expert will come to answer the questions that the participants have on a specific subject, in order to feed their reflection. MEDEF wants to ensure that the future buyer does not remain alone in the entrepreneurial adventure. Especially since in the department, a hundred family businesses will be affected by a transfer in the coming years.

For this launch evening, Miruna Radu-Lefebvre, holder of the Audencia Family Entrepreneurship & Society Chair, spoke as an expert on the subject. At his side, François and Frédéric Lucas, seller and buyer of the Vendée company Arcade Cycles, shared their experience on their transmission process.

Attentive, the future buyers attended with interest the miruna conference, which addressed the key points of a family business transfer:

1. Transmit, a matter of course?
2. Issues of family succession
3. Emotional ambivalence of successors
4. Legitimacy & emancipation of successors

In the Vendée, this concept already exists in a different format. A Transmission Club launched and managed by medef Vendée since 2020, has already been in operation for two years, despite the context of COVID. The 2Th promotion will be launched in 2023. This Club brings together families (parents, wives and children) to discuss inheritance issues through various themed workshops:

  • Workshop 1 - Legitimacy, what is my place?
  • Workshop 2 - The engine, which gives direction?
  • Workshop 3 - Work/life balance?
  • Workshop 4 - Structuring the recovery project
  • Workshop 5 - Set up the transmission
